Genes

DNA units on the chromosomes which determine the characteristics of the species and individual. The Coronary Thrombosis Trust has supports work that finds changes (polymorphisms, mutations) in the genes that control thrombosis. Some people have such changes, which make them have an increased tendency to thrombosis and therefore to coronary heart disease.
