ABOUT US
Introduction
Coronary thrombosis is the clotting of the blood within the coronary arteries. These arteries are equivalent to the main plumbing which supplies blood to the heart muscle so that it can work (pump).
Remember heart attacks are now the commonest form of death in women and men over 50 years of age.
What the CTT does
-
The objective of the CTT is to provide funds to enable research into coronary thrombosis with the aim of improving the treatment and prevention of coronary heart disease (CHD).
-
Research into other aspects of heart disease is provided by other charities especially the British Heart Foundation.
-
We know that thrombosis can be stopped now, but such treatment causes bleeding. A major objective of the CTT is to find a way to stop thrombosis within the coronary arteries without causing bleeding.
